I'm not alone in wanting an updated ENB mod. An effect very fitting for a game like Bloodlines in my opinion, but I'd be pleased enough with just better Bloom and working SSAO. It would allow users to create a gritty, cinematic experience not unlike old grindhouse films. In addition to all that, I think adjustable Film Grain and Lens Flare effects would be really neat. Like with Depth of Field, I don't really have anything to say about these things. The other settings, Reflection, Water, Shadow, Color Correction, etc, appear to be just carry overs from the San Andreas and don't seem to actually do anything when enabled.
Needless to say I don't use it here, and to be honest, I haven't come across anybody who really uses it either, so I don't really have anything to say on this topic. Could it perhaps be changed so that only activates when the character looks around quickly (as seen in games like Crysis)?Ĭoncerning Depth of Field, I personally find it to be incredibly annoying and turn it off in all games that have it.
It's completely unrealistic (not to mention annoying) and it's extremely difficult (if not impossible) to play with it enabled as it is currently. Motion Blur, when enabled, activates when the character walks around. I've included comparison shots below as well. In short, the game is unplayable with SSAO enabled, which is a shame as the performance hit from it isn't even that big, and good SSAO can go a great way in enhancing image quality. On top of that everything is incredibly grainy. When enabled, everything becomes slightly transparent and there are dark lines around through everything (the SSAO) that is visible through the transparent objects.
Maybe an image sharpening setting could be implemented that could be adjusted to offset the blur caused by the bloom? I've included comparison shots below to illustrate the blur caused by the bloom. As it stands currently, it's difficult to create a good looking configuration (and let's be honest, the default configuration is over the top).įor starters, the bloom setting, while greatly enhancing the overall picture when toned down and configured to one's liking, blurs the image slightly, causing a loss of fidelity. While the current mod goes a long way in making the game even moodier (as it should be, it is set in the World of Darkness after all), I feel it could be improved even further. I was curious if you would perhaps be interested in updating the ENB modification for Bloodlines. I'd also like to add that I was completely surprised and delighted to see that you had done a version for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, one of my all time favorite games. I'd like to start off by saying that you're doing amazing work with the ENB Series.
